Since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, consumers have been trained to only go out in public when they have to. Prescient as always, celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe has had that covered since 2015: every quarter, Zoe creates a seasonal Box of Style filled with fashion-forward needs and beauty products. Summer 2020’s box contains beautifully curated items for a chic beach weekend, with no need to leave home to buy it.
Zoe discussed Box of Style’s evolution and how she is helping those affected most by the virus.
How has Box of Style evolved since inception?
From the very beginning, we have been unwavering in our mission to empower women to live a life of style. We consistently connect with and listen to our members – understanding what they desire in the worlds of luxury fashion and beauty. Each season, my incredible team and I source the most coveted products from new or heritage brands to deliver a unique curation of products. Not only do our members receive the Box of Style delivered to their doorstep, but they also have exclusive access to the members-only marketplace filled with an assortment of products all at an exceptional value.
In our efforts to become even more sustainable, the summer curation is currently shipping in one box rather than two. As a result, we have saved enough cardboard to make up the iconic Hollywood sign three times over!
What is the price point, and what is the value of the items in the box?
Box of Style offers two types of membership options. Either choice allows access to exclusive styling tips and the Member Marketplace, a seasonal curation of Rachel Zoe-approved products available at exclusive, members-only pricing. Our Style Insider membership provides a $99 pay-as-you-go seasonal subscription, while the VIP membership includes an annual pre-pay subscription priced at $349.99 ($50 annual savings). Additionally, annual membership unlocks exclusive membership perks. Each box holds a minimum retail value of more than $400.
The Summer 2020 Box of Style offers a collective retail value of more than $500, with the retail values as follows:
● Henny + Lev Weekender (Retail Value $159)
● Panacea Beaded Tassel Earrings (Retail Value $55)
● Grown Alchemist Hydra-Repair Day Cream (Retail Value $49)
● Kosas Color & Light Palette in Tropic Equinox (Retail Value $34)
● Peter Som Dream Floral Print Sarong (Retail Value $195)
What are you doing to help people in need during the pandemic?
I serve as a board member for Baby2Baby, a non-profit that provides children living in poverty around the country with diapers, clothing and all the basic necessities every child deserves. We immediately created Rachel Zoe Collection masks – for each mask purchased, we donated three masks to baby2baby families, ultimately donating thousands.
As an ambassador for Save the Children I participated in their Save With Stories social media campaign, in which donations go toward food and educational supplies to kids who rely on school for both.
Additionally, as homes became even more of our safe havens during the pandemic, we leaned into our longstanding partnership with A Sense of Home (ASOH), an organization that proactively fights against homelessness by creating homes for youth aging out of foster care.
As a company, we wanted to recognize our country’s heroes working around the clock to help keep us safe at home. To reward these extraordinary people for their services and sacrifice during this difficult time, we introduced a social campaign where our followers nominated frontline and essential workers. We then selected 10 winners, and showered them with Box of Style goodies.
Where are most of your Box of Style customers located?
Our Box of Style community is global! We offer Box of Style to not only the domestic United States but also Canada, the UK and Australia. Our largest member base is the United States.
Where, and how, did you spend lockdown?
We’ve spent lockdown together as a family in Los Angeles. My boys just finished their school year last week, so I’ve been trying my best to balance working from home with homeschooling and everything that comes with parenting. It has been a most challenging time indeed being a working mom, but I have truly loved the months of quality time with my boys. As Rodger and I are Co-CEOS of the company it really served us in our ability to keep the business going along with our amazing team virtually.
What’s your five year plan for Box of Style, and for your brand in general?
In the very near future we will be revealing exciting changes to our offering that will provide insight into our new direction. I couldn’t be more excited for what is to come in the next five years and beyond.
